Luxury safaris in Uganda
One of the world’s best kept natural secrets, fewer visitors book Uganda holidays than neighbouring countries, but we consider it Africa’s undiscovered gem.
This stunning destination in the heart of East Africa is a land quietly offering volcanoes, great lakes, magnificent waterfalls, spectacular mountains and truly unique wildlife populations. Uganda is blessed with the highest concentration of primates on earth, including the mountain gorilla, one of the rarest animals on the planet. There are currently just over 1000 mountain gorillas alive in the wild, over half of which are in Uganda, making it the perfect place for gorilla watching tours. As well as lush forests and rare primates, Uganda’s savannah parks are teeming with wildlife for game viewing, from elephants, lions and buffalo, to over 350 bird species. Uganda is also the source of the mighty river Nile so if you’re seeking adventure be sure to experience its thrilling white waters.

Commitment to conservation and responsible tourism
Bwindi Community Hospital (BCH) was founded in 2003 by U.S missionaries, on the edge of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. What started as a small weekly clinic, now provides healthcare to 100,000 locals in the area and Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp is proud to work with the hospital and help develop its resources.
Part of the Bike Shop Programme, Bwindi Women Bicycle Enterprise employs six local women who have undertaken extensive training to become bicycle mechanics and learn the skills necessary to own and operate their own business.
Together with our guests, Sanctuary Retreats Philanthropy is working towards raising standards of living by delivering clean water communities in Bwindi, Uganda.
