Traditional Mokoro Ride

At Sanctuary Chief’s Camp, Sanctuary Baines’ Camp and Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp guests can experience a traditional Mokoro Excursion. During this excursion guests will enjoy a different perspective of the bush, in the company of a highly trained guide. Each June the whole area around the camps flood and turn the Okavango Delta into a labyrinth of lily-filled lagoons and streams. As a change from a game drive, the quiet, gentle pace of a mokoro is a romantic way to experience the magic of safari with a loved one.

As Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp is situated on a private concession in the Okavango Delta, the camp offers tranquil, water lunches (seasonal). During these, guests will indulge in freshly prepared food while sitting with their feet in the cool shallow waters. This is the perfect way to immerse yourselves in the sights and sounds of the surrounding area and wildlife.

Staff at Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp can also arrange special private dinners for couples by the pool, complete with lanterns and candles for a romantic night under the African stars. This is an unforgettable way to spend an evening with a loved one.

Similar experiences are offered at Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma. One couple had an exceptionally special experience at the lodge when a guest requested a special surprise dinner for his fiancée. The lodge arranged for one thousand roses to be flown in from Lusaka, plus decorated buckets with silk organza bows. The path to the spa deck was lined with buckets of roses, where a private candlelit table was laid for dinner. Needless to say, on arrival the guest cried with joy.

Sanctuary Baines’ Star Bath

Scenic flights over the Delta

At both Sanctuary Chief’s Camp and Sanctuary Stanley’s Camp guests have the opportunity to embark on a scenic flight over the Delta, during this flight couples will share a once in a lifetime experience. The flight involves flying west towards the permanent delta, exposing areas unreachable by vehicle or boat. There is the option of the doors being removed for unrestricted photographic opportunities. This activity is offered on a year-round basis at an extra cost.

Flight of Angels

At Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma guests can enjoy The Flight of Angels. During this amazing experience guests will fly over The Victoria Falls in a helicopter, taking in unrivalled views. While we cannot guarantee that you will see any game the following species can often be seen from the air: elephant, buffalo, rhino, hippo, crocodile and giraffe. This activity is available at an additional cost.

Sundowner Cruise

At Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero and Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma guests can end the day in a magical way; sipping on a cocktail while watching an African sunset over the still waters of the river, from the comfort of a specially designed riverboats. Sundowner cruises are also a great way of seeing buffalo up close as they come out of the shade to graze in the cooler evenings and elephants as they wade in the river. This is a truly unforgettable memory to share with a loved one.
