With a lifetime of experience in the travel industry and 16 years at the lodge, Pollen's knowledge of the region is unmatched. Pollen was born in Sesfontein, 110km from Okahirongo Elephant Lodge with conservation and tourism playing a large part in his upbringing.

Joseph was born in Loita Hills at the Eastern corridors of the Mara. He has a professional Diploma in Wildlife Management and joined the hospitality industry in 2009 before joining Sanctuary Olonana 8 years ago where he is now Head Guide and Head Naturalist. Joseph's commitment and passion for the community, flora and fauna have earned him a number of recognition awards.

Phinias joined Sanctuary Retreats in October 2008. Originally from Shurugwi-Midlands in Zimbabwe, he began a chef apprenticeship in 1994. After 3 years intensive training he graduated and started work as a junior section chef, eventually working his way up the ranks to junior sous chef. He is now Executive Chef at Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero, where he has worked since 2012.

Jackson was born and raised in Narok County, Kenya. Through his 16 years at Sanctuary Retreats, Jackson has moved from Sous-Chef to Sanctuary Tambarare's new Camp Manage since its opening in 2022. His love for the bush can be felt in each and every conversation with Jackson.

Pontious joined Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp in 2018 following an internship and now works in the housekeeping department as a room and laundry attendant. Pontious is currently expanding her skills as a masseuse.
